Root Uninstall stock apps on CyanogenMod 6

    I want to kill some apps, like calculator, that I have replaced and don't want. Here are the commands (in both Terminal and ADB):
    $ su
    # rm /system/app/Calculator.apk
    rm: remove '/system/app/Calculator.apk'?y
    rm: can't remove '/system/app/Calculator.apk': Read-only file system
    #

    Notice the "su" command. It shouldn't be read-only. I really want to unclutter my app drawer. The build is CyanogenMod-6-07252010-NIGHTLY-Inc.

    Can't you just go into custom recovery, mount system, and then remove through ADB?
