Root universal androot 1.6.1= trojan

    i had to get a new antivirus today and when i did a sweep the only thing that came up is this androot apk... says its a trojan... im not very computer literate, but isnt trojans bad... anyways i wanted to get opinions as im still learning this stuff

    Antivirus always say these are malicious. Same with downloaded pc games and much more.

    The only malware I know of so far for Android are these so called "anti-virus" apps.

    I run it and it did not detect anything bad in universal androot 1.6.1.
    So much for evil trojan...

    i have it down loaded on my computer.. did a sweep with McAfee.. the only thing that popped up was was this file.. has nothing to do with whats on my phone i couldnt use it as i have the leaked 2.2... i havent met up with fab to redo my X yet

    I don't know what program you were using, but I can say with relative certainty that the detection was probably false. I rarely use anti-virus programs in general anymore. Most seem to have become bloated, corrupted, or useless to me.

    I do have Lookout installed, however. I don't rely much on the actual anti-virus features of the program, but it scans a program every time it's installed or updated. I mostly use it because it allows for some data backup and somewhat of a, "missing device," feature to locate a lost phone. The peace of mind helps I suppose, but it's not like a scan every couple days; probably once a week.
