I am having problems trying to root my Mytouch 4g. I downloaded and transfer to SD card but stumped right there. I can't install on to the device. I don't want to perm-root, just want to temp-root. I am fairly new to this rooting process. I am coming from I-phone.

Also the down load I downloaded was a "Zip" file. I dont knwo if this maybe the problem. Also I dont knwo about SDK too. Need some wisdom here. Thank you.

I read in the instructions that it might download as a .zip and all you need to do is change it to a .apk Mine downloaded as an apk so I didn't have to worry about it. Try that and let me know if it works

I got visionary on the phone and i temp rooted just fine but when i went into the emulator to run the perm root files, it had an error that one of the files was not processed and then when i checked s was on still. any ideas? bad rooting files?

from what im getting the unlockr method only worked for the 1st batch of mytouch 4gs. I just tried doing it on my newer my touch and it didnt work. I can get temp root, but s=off doesnt work. Im guessing the XDA way is a sure fire way to get s off.
