unknown icon in top bar

My Australian Razr M has an unknown icon in the top bar. It looks like the autorate icon but is present whether autorotate is on or off. Why is it there and can I delete it?

Sounds like the sync icon. It just indicates that something is syncing to Google in the background, like contacts or calendar perhaps.

Maybe the icon for when volume is turned down until its vibrate only?
