Guys , what i meant to say, this unlocks your hotspot, and do not have to pay for it seperately, Now if you dont have unlimited data, then yes it will count towards your data use. sorry for confusion. found this on xda forums long ago. I used it for over a year and never been charged for a hot spot.

    :D

Even with unlimited data your contract probably says you need to pay an extra $30/month for tethering.

    Yup.
    Correct.
Yup. I believe it says you are able to use the data for your phone only or something like that. Basically the same thing. Probably worded slightly differently depending on when you signed.

Wasn't there a time when Verizon demanded the extra $30/month for tethering but wouldn't sell it to you? Maybe on the Eris. It's always bothered me that the TOS only applies to the customer and the cell companies don't have to actually provide service on their side of the contract.

If you're on a shared plan (one of the new ones) then tethering is included and you should contact Verizon. If you're on an old 2gb plan, then you aren't supposed to have tethering included and you can't just click on the button and have it work.

With that in mind, I might just see if it works and if it shows up on my bill I'll play dumb and say it was entirely on accident.

It's against the TOS of this site to discuss breaking the TOS of your phone contract.

That's why I didn't chime in and mention a real good tether app.

May I ask what exactly this does and how? I mean I'm all about hacking but need more info. Does this allow you to user the built in VZW hotspot?

When doing this, do it clear everything from your phone?
