I really love my Incredible, and have found many of the bugs are due to me still learning the system and it's apps. However, the one thing that BUGS THE HECK out of me is the unlock procedure. I hate grabbing the phone, adjusting my grip to hit the (power/unlock) button, readjusting my grip, then sliding the screen lock. Is there any way to use the optical joystick button to initiate the unlock procedure, as I think this would make using the phone SO much more enjoyable. I don't like fumbling with the device everytime I use it, MAKE IT EASIER HTC! Anyway, what are you're thoughts on this issue?

If you get lockbot from the market it has an option to make the optical joystick unlock the phone.

Ya lockbot doesnt work half the time. Im with the OP, I hate having to unlock the phone. Having the optical track ball button wake the screen up, that would be awesome.

Well, then lets start a petition... Maybe we can get this to 1000+ posts so someone does something about this. I downloaded lockbot free to check it out, and seems like a lot just to use that button for unlock. I think it might increase battery drain also, considering it has to run on sleep to moniter that button.

You don't need the no lock widget, just use no lock, turn off locking, and bam you are good to go.

i have found a combination of No Lock and FlyScreen is awesome. You get important info as you wake it up, but full functionality is still only a swipe away.

When the nexus was rooted, they added that feature. I would assume the same goes for us.

I don't get no lock. I downloaded it and put the widget on my screen but it doesn't seem to do anything. It changes color from orange to green and shows locked, but my screen isn't locked. How exactly is this suppose to work? There are zero instructions with the widget.

    uh lol

When it shows locked that means when you turn on your screen you have to do the slide thing to unlock your phone.

When it's not locked, when you turn on your screen you'll just be at home without having to do the extra unlock slide.

I think original poster wanted to avoid hitting the power button initially to get the unlock screen where you can slide or hit menu key. Wanted a one step process so they didn't have to move their hand position on phone.

Oh, I get it lol. I THOUGHT it was a widget that allowed you to lock the screen itself by hitting the widget. Seems like you are only saving one very small step, hitting the menu button to unlock the screen.

+1 for an official HTC/Google update for optical trackpad unlock.

    Agreed.

It was more natural on the Eris because the button was one of the buttons next to the trackball, so it was a natural hand position when holding the phone.

It is not ergonomic at all on the Incredible right now...

Agreed! I am new to Android in general and didn't know if there was a way to get a better way of unlocking the phone. I agree with the OP, I hate that awkward way of hitting the unlock button and then readjusting the phone in your hand.

when its unlocked you can hit the volume rocker or trackpad to wake up the phone while its asleep......the trackpad doesnt work 100% of the time but the volume rocker does

i like the app cause i like to use the lock pattern but sometimes its a waste of time like when i have the phone right next to me while im at work
