    Hi,

Tried doing a search but did not find anything. Also, new to android so sorry if this is a noob question. I noticed that there is an unrevoked app for the Evo and when doing google searches for unrevoked, found links that it would also work for the hero. However, could never find anything or anyone saying that they got it working on the hero. Am I missing something? Is the unrevoked app only good for the Evo? Want to use the wifi tether program but don't want to do a complete root and custom rom. Unrevoked app seems perfect for what I want to do. If it works...

    Thank you,

    Rich

This is the first I've heard about the unrevoked app, but it sounds like it only works on CDMA Heroes.

We use a instantroot.apk to get root access on GSM Heroes.

Since I have the Sprint Hero, I guess I will have to give it a try. Was hoping that someone else might have tried it and could say if it worked or not.

    Thanks,

    Rich

You're posting in the GSM forum, that's why nobody has replied.

I'll move your post to the Sprint Hero fourms for you.

There's an Unrevoked exploit for the CDMA Hero that's based off the one for the EVO. You will be rooting if you run the exploit -- rooting is what Unrevoked does. You don't need to install a custom ROM, however. I'm still running the standard Sprint 2.1 release, and Wifi Tether is working perfectly.
