I know I saw the unrevoked app in the market, but now I cant find it anywhere. Anyone know what to search for in order to find it again?
I want to download it and send it to a friend of mine.

i don't think that there is an app for unrevoked. unrevoked needs to run on your computer and not on your phone.

I'm not sure, but wasn't there an Unrevoked app that gave you a temp root? It would have been before I got my evo, but I seem to remember reading about an unrevoked root that wasn't permanent...

Oh, there definitely *was* and unrevoked app...back on Android 2.1 :p. It stopped working with the upgrade to 2.2, and they didn't bother to maintain it. They moved on to unrevoked-forever, and the full root method. If you come across any old threads talking about how unrevoked won't allow you to flash ROMs, blah, blah, blah, it's because unrevoked used to be a temp root solution via an app. It obviously no longer is, nor will that app work anymore. As was stated, z4root will work, though, just like the old unrevoked app used to, but with 2.2.

Hehe, it's all good. The only reason I know that is because I used to use it. I didn't think I need full root back then ;).

I recall something in the rooting directions for unrevoked when I did mine about using the unrevoked on your phone to allow you to use TB and such to back up your apps before rooting. There was also a PC36IMG file that was put on your sdcard that needed to be renamed after you rooted.

We have some loyalty to using unrevoked? lol even if using z4 for 5 minutes makes sense? :) Fine do stuff the hard way. Does that make sense though? Something we could suggest? you know if they had a metric ton of apps, otherwise probably not worth the time

Yeah, that's actually a really good idea. Another cool thing with z4root is that if you ever get stuck in that situation with unrevoked where it gives you S-OFF, then pukes before giving you a custom recovery or rooting your ROM, you can flash a custom recovery via PC36IMG.zip, then root your stock ROM (permanently) with z4root. Normally, you can use that option, but once you have S-OFF, you can. It's just that with unrevoked, you normally get the whole ball of wax. z4root can be nice when things go wrong, though.

I thought that there was an app... it's nice to catch up on the history of some of this stuff (if you can really call a few months ago history) (=
