Hey everyone. I've unrooted from Bugless Beast v.4 to a stock 2.1 via How To: Unroot the Motorola Droid | TheUnlockr. So basically I used RSDLite and did the steps listed on that site. I used their .sbf file as well.

Everything seems to work except one thing.. I cant update or install Facebook, Maps, and Goggles. If you look at the comments in that link, you'll see that a couple of people have the same issue. It says "

Mmmm. I know I'll be getting the replacement soon, but I still would like to know what's the issue with the apps not updating/package file not signing.

I didnt watch the video cause I am at work but did you use rsd lite and an sbf to unroot?

Yes I did. I should note towards the end, I believe it was trying to do something with RAM (in RSDlite) and it said it failed..but the phone rebooted just fine.

If you used an sbf you should be good. I would just do a factory reset before you send it back

if you are worried about it you could try one of the other sbf files that floating around. There are several of them

Could you point me to a reliable good one with no news of like errors like this (updating apps but failing)? Links to threads or the file would be amazing. Thanks for your help.

And..once I get the sbf files, I'd just do the same process w/ RSDLite?

Awesome. And again this is for the Droid 1? Sorry if I'm being a complete noob.

I've rooted and unrooted in the past, but never had this issue or had to send it back to VZW.

Just to mention. I used the same tutorial and the same thing happened with Maps, Facebook. There were some other apps that I had purchased that didn't show up either. I went over to droid-life and flashed back to 2.0.1

When I rebooted it downloaded 2.1 (ota) and it's been working great ever since.

One other thing...the stock 2.1 that was installed OTA is ESE81, if that helps...

Did this a while back myself, the only thing that really concerned me is where it says "Test Keys" not sure if it should but it seems like it wouldn't say such a thing.

I like the go to 2.0.1 then let it do the OTA update, then you know you are on the right firmware to send her back in to VZW

Is it possible to just follow these steps How to manually install Android 2.1 for Droid – Android and Me and use that file? I knwo it's the ESE81 so that's why I asked.. Keep in mind I'm on 2.1 now, so would I run into any errors if i put the ESE81 on my SD and booted into recovery?

And..how did you flash to 2.0.1? What was the process

I just looked more closely and the problem is that the sbf file there is ESE53 which is one that was never actually push OTA. I didnt notice that when you first posted but ohmrsh is right it should be ESE81. I just assumed you went back to 2.0.1 then either forced the OTA or just let the phone download the OTA to 2.1.

    My bad

to get to 2.0.1 you do the exact same steps but use the 2.0.1 sbf instead of the 2.1 sbf file.

Alright, cool. So what should I do?
    1) Should I use one of the other .sbf files you posted and do RSDlite?
---EDIT: Are those 2.0.1 sbfs? Looks like they are
    2) Should I manually put ESE81 on my SD and boot into recovery and install?
    3) Should I go back to 2.0.1 (how would I go about that?) and then do a OTA update?

use either sbf I posted. The 2nd one is 2.0.1 and that is the better route. The first is 2.0

Then just check for updates and it will update you to 2.1

Great thanks. I just realized and edited my post about the sbf files being 2.0.1. Will do when i get home.

So ok, I went to 2.0.1 thanks to OMJ's sbf link. Google maps updates and installs properly. Now when I goto the settings and system update, it says I'm up to date -- i'm on 2.0.1 mind you...

Is it normally a waiting process? Do I need to be on 3G for it to inform me? I'm currently on wifi. Could I just force/manual update by putting the ese81 update.zip and installing it? Where do I go from here?
