I have a very unusual question for you guys.

If i were to walk through a metal detector with a Droid X in my pocket (in school), would it set the alarm off?
Im asking this because i know for a fact that some phones do not set the alarm off.
The only way to get the phone in my high school is to sneak it in but sadly the Droid X is too big to be sneaked in! :(

I'd guess the answer to your question is an almost definitive yes...

Only way to tell is to try it really. It's going to depend on the machines sensitivity.

That said, the X has a metal frame so it's much more likely to set it off than the plastic G1.

    damn.
technical support told me that it most likely would set the alarm off because it has aluminum inside of the phone.
    might still try

Generally aluminum won't set of a metal detector. It's not magnetic. I'd give it a try and if it sets the alarm off just take it back to your car.

If you are that concerned with it, then I would suggest getting some sort of cover..either a hard plastic or Neoprene/rubberized type. They would certainly decrease the metallic footprint of the phone...;)

No it wouldn't. Magnetic fields pass through plastic/neoprene/rubber with no problem.

Ok... I gotta ask. Why would you want/need to sneak your phone into school?

I deliver to a Federal building here in Nashville. I'm good about taking EVERYTHING metal out of my pockets before attempting to go thru the detector. I left my X in my pocket the other day, no other metal on me, and yes, it set of the detector.
