I see that there is a new update for the EVO. Does anyone know if I can do the update & if so how. I would think it be different since its rooted.

    Thanks to all that reply

If you are rooted DO NOT ACCEPT THE UPDATE! You could possibly Bork your phone. Or worse yet you could loose root.
When you load a custom recovery you disable the phones ability to accept an official ota update. The stock recovery is used for accepting ota updates, that's it. So when you load clockwork recovery or Amon-ra recovery, the stock software is gone. Thus you don't really know what will happen if an ota is accepted, it can really do some strange things.

Here is the stock rooted rom for the recent release. Download the odex version if you want to be close to stock. Do not accept the OTA. It might fail, flash and unroot you, or put your phone in limbo and need some time to get it back running.

i was kinda wondering when they were gonna come out with an update....so what if i used my nandroid and went back to my stock rom, is an update gonna pop up? or should i just download the new rom provided in the link, and flash that one then make a new stock nandroid backup with that rom?? i just dont wanna mess anything up cuz sometimes i do factory resets after i've flashed a bunch of roms....

never accept an ota if you are rooted. it will screw your phone up or unroot you. to get updated you can just flash the rom that x linked to. or you can wait til roms like mikg or synergy have the ota cooked into them. at some point the devs will release it. just be patient. though some people really must have the voice to text ability in their car so they can just flash the rooted ota rom now.

im not gonna accept the update..i would prefer to wait til one of the devs release it in their rom....but just say that i wanted the update and i flashed the rom x provided....i could just make a nandroid of that, then wipe and flash the rom i want to use again right??

yes and no. when you flash the rooted ota you will be updated yes to software 4.53.651.1, but only on that rom. once you flash or restore nandroid back to your current rom, then your software version will change back down to 4.24.
