I didn't either. But I wonder is it a network upgrade, rather the 2.1 upgrade? The latter I hope!

This does not mean anything for the 2.1 upgrade I am afraid. What I see form that is that maybe the coverage in the area has been upgraded.... WAIT I might have it!! Verizon is supposed to unveil skype mobile tomorrow at CTIA!!

It could mean you need to update the phone on the network for it to do coding for calling over 3g since that is a new feature?? Maybe or I am just trying to not get pulled back into the 2.1 black hole rofl!

Based on what the e-mail looks like, I am assuming it is not the 2.1 upgrade.

Why would we need to dial *228 to get 2.1, when we received 2.01 via the Android System Update?

Other than skype or LTE what how could they do a network upgrade? I mean yeah new roaming and prl but that is not #1 and they never send that to people?

I've gotten it in the past and #1 updates everything including PRL and other stuff.

just speculating....

maybe Verizon needs to roll out a network update before the 2.1 update.
since the droid is getting updates all over the world BESIDES the US may indicate a Verizon issue.
Verizon would then update their network so the 2.1 update can be rolled out.

again this is just speculation.
but i'm excited for skype

I might be the only one thinking this, but I would prefer an announcement about Skype from CTIA over a 2.1 update. I'm heading out of the country, and I'd love to be able to call over wifi. I'm already running a ROM anyway...
