First off, 3G is on average still going to be quite a bit faster than 28.8 or 56k dial up. Also, people spend a ton of dough for an iPad with 3G built in, that's going to be roughly the same speed as a wifi iPad tethered with a Nexus S over 3G...and with the Nexus, I can also tether my laptop or anything else with wifi that I want to use.... For free

Agreed, though I have only experimented with it, wireless tethering is a nice feature to have.

If they take tethering away going straight to root forums. I haven't need to root the Nexus and hope i won't have to if they take the tether away from us.

To people worried they'll take away wireless tethering. I see no reason why they would. If they didn't want to include it, it wouldn't have been included with the phone in the first place.

For people complaining that wireless tethering is slow. 1. It's better than nothing. and 2. It's not that slow. I wouldn't dare to try and download anything using it, but for browsing, it's been more than sufficient whenever I've tested it.

For -l3x-, I never really felt the need to root either. I rooted the other day under more of an "eh, why not?" mindset than a "OMG I NEED TO!" mindset, and so far I've got to say I'm liking cyanogenmod. It's not the same situation that I have for my iPod, where I MUST jailbreak, but there are a lot of features rooting has brought that I do like.

Really! Please share. I have always had my Hero rooted ever since 2009. With the Nexus its so advanced for me I don't see the reason to root. Unless I missed something.

    Anybody get the update yet?

I also rooted. Messing around with MIUI. Still, stock is more then good enough. What I did before was root and keep the bone stock OS on it that it came with and use a different kernel so it could be faster(1.2-1.4ghz). That way I could have the stock feeling and not have to put Cyanogen on it. I haven't used that since my Hero. Plus netarchy's kernel gives it the deep colors before Google changed them.

Well I guess you were wrong about this. I thoght the tethering worked great and now I'm really pissed that I lost it. That was one of the reasons why I chose this phone. It doesn't seem right that they can take it away from us.
