Help Update Over Wi-Fi Only?

I am planning on purchasing the Telus Motorola Milestone tomorrow. I was just wondering about application updates, is it possible (once downloaded) to tell applications to update over Wi-Fi connections only, likely not, just curious. Thanks.
EDIT: Also, is there an option or an application that would ask if you want to use Wi-Fi instead when it is available?

Applications don't update on their own. When you open the market, it shows which apps have an update available, and you have to manually kick off the updates. If you only do that when you're on WiFi, you're good.

Once you enable your WiFi all of the data will be transmitted through it. Allows my 500mb plan to actually work for me, just barely. heh
