Could be the app hasn't been updated - it used to called something else .. can't remember what exactly .. Google Store maybe?
Go to Settings .. Apps .. All, tap whatever looks like it might be the store app then tap Uninstall updates. Restart the phone. It should then check for updates, one of which will change the app name to the Play Store.
