Google Maps for Android is pretty awesome - I use it regularly as both a driver and pedestrian - and it just got a bunch better. Announced today on the Google Mobile Blog, a version of Google Maps is now available on the Android Market that includes updates such as Audio Search and Latitude [...]

And now I can get latitude...which is kool...

Although I still have nobody who has Latitude to use it with... -_-

    I don't have voice search though....which isn't too big a deal...

    Well...

Since you put it that way....

I guess it does have a bit of a sting to it...

why dont you have voice search? google added it to the market, once download it works on maps plus the search widget. for the widget remove from home screen then re add the search widget.

Ah ha! I thought it was supposed to be included in Cupcake, so I assumed it wasn't available in the UK version.

/me runs off to check the app store.

    edit:

Indeed it is available in the App store. Thanks for that.

Anyone download My Maps as well? I did, very slick. I also finally got the Places Directory which was reviewed in the past on Phandroid.

I think My Maps has a weird giant font issue, but my saved maps came up simple and easy.

I just typed Voice Search, it was the 6th result. The full app name is "Google Search by voice" by Google, Inc.

Where are you located? I am in the US and we have voice installed with voice dialer, voice search in maps and google widget. In my market, I typed in "voice search" and the only Google app was Google Maps. There were only 7 total results.

I think we might see different results based on country.

If some people from the UK can get it...and some can't...

Then what's that all about? =/

    --EDIT--

I finally managed to find it by selecting Google Maps in the Market then scrolling down the page...

Just above the comments..there's an option to View More Applications"

Select that and you should hopefully find it in the list...

That's actually quite annoying seeing as you can't search for it...

But it is there....just gotta take the long way to get it...

In the US - I see four apps using this method:

    Maps
    My Maps Editor
    Scoreboard
    Finance

Correct I have an app called Voice Search already, but the point was I can't search/install/manage/delete it via the Market.

In addition interesting that the apps by the teams in Google like MyTracks or SkyMap are not listed in this list either.

    Hmmmm...

    That's strange....

I can't really say why you can't get them then...

Exactly how many apps were made by the Google team?

I'd love to know what I'm missing on my phone...

Right my point was the teams at Google are not listed under the search. Hard to find them.

I can "get" them as I have them actually. But they don't show in the search because they were not made by Google, Inc. Which is weird since clearly the 20% teams that released SkyMap made it under Google's umbrella.

Just their semantics of how they offer the search, tags, etc.
