Based on the accessories available its clear there is a power port on the Xoom that charges it.

However, does anyone know if it can also charge via the micro USB port as well?

I am trying to figure out if I am going to need several power adapters (home, work, car) or if I'll be able to take advantage of my current USB charging options that I use for my phone. I have so many cables everywhere I'm already tripping over them.

I wouldn't see why it couldn't charge via the Micro USB, unless, since there is a separate port, they are not linked. There is a good possibility that the Micro USB port is ONLY linked to the Xoom's memory and not the battery.

the owners manual leaked online a little while ago. i am reading through it... no charging via micro USB

    Caution:
Use only the charger that came with your
tablet when charging your tablet. Do NOT attempt to
connect a charger to the USB port. The USB port is

used for data transfer only, NOT for charging.

Bummer on the no usb charge. Not surprised but I was hoping to not add to my collection of tangled cables.

Tablets generally cannot charge via USB because a USB port is only 500ma of power. Given their battery capacities, this is normally not enough to charge the tablet within a respectable time nor keep it powered while in use.

    A bummer but a reality. :)

Yes, this is is confirmed in the Moto Support Forums, it will have a proprietary charger for reasons explained above.

I predict a lot of people are going to try and charge this device with the USB.

The Motorola XOOM's Charging is a little terrible,it is designed with not popular charging port, why not to design with Micro USB port,i buy a external multi-functional charger,it can charge iphone,ipad,ipad2,mobile phones, but it can't charge Motorola XOOM
