updates on o2 uk. install?

I've been ignoring the phone os updates from my provider
recently because last time I installed them I got lots of force closes.

should I be installing them do you think?

That update is 2.2 I wasn't aware they had more than one

If you are still on 2.1 then 2.2 will offer you performance benefits
