How do I update it? I'm on 2.5.0.1? I think. But I hear they're all the way at 3.0 now.

I went to ROM Manager and tried updating to the betas, which were still listed as "2.5.1.x" but it would fail in updating it.

Any clue on how I can do this, or if it's really even necessary?

The ROM manager is at 3.x. That's a separate thing from the Clockwork recovery. There are different versions depending on phone model, but the Droid's is still 2.5.0.1.

Updating to CWRecovery 3.x is only needed for certain renditions of the CM7 nightly rom builds and/or the accompanying 'gapps' file. AFAIK, CWRecovery 3.x is not really a supported recovery, but just as 'beta' as a CyanogenMod Nightly rom build. This is just from what I've read.

And judging from what I've read about it and the several problems some have had with it, I'll just wait and see if it comes to rom manager and then go from there unless for some reason I REALLY need to have it.

If you _really_ want to try out a new recovery, try out the RZRecovery.

Thanks for the info. guys. I'll stick with the current recovery, as it hasn't caused me any issues. I was just wondering if I was missing out on something by being on an older version. Turns out I was misinformed to begin with.

Yeah I was on CM3 and all it really was was a color change to orange. Didn't really see or notice a difference.
