    Hi,

After a mishap with my old phone I have gone back to my hero... I'm pretty sure its unlocked, but it is still on the 1.6 firmware. It will not update to 2.1. I've tried changing the date , doing a factory restart etc and I've run out of ideas, any, erm, ideas? Thanks

Well what carrier you have again? (And are you sure its 1.6?) I think some orange Heroes had to download from the HTC page an manual upgrade and then were able to update OTA.

But are you sure you are htc hero and not the sprint hero?

What's your build number? (You can find it in Settings >>> About Phone).

You should update to the latest 1.5 firmware for unbranded phones like yours. Then you should get the OTA update pretty much instantly.

Bear in mind this update will wipe your phone entirely, so make sure to back up your stuff first :)
