    hi all

Just upgraded to 2.2 and notice privacy menu has gone.

Really wanted to back up ?

Any ideas on this and recommendations on good back up for contacts.

    Thanks

The backup is next to useless anyway.

Go into settings and press search. Search for privacy

I was looking for it as well. It would return the phone to its backup state in the event a reset or corruption occurred. Android update must have used it going to 2.2 since the phone booted with everything configured as it was before, apps, sms, email, accounts and personal changes. Not useless and I certainly have the option to use third party apps but this should have remained. I called Telus and they were not aware that it was removed. In fact anything I call them about they are not aware of a solution even if it does exist. It's up to us the user to decide this. HTC does not provide Desktop manager to backup or manage contents via a PC. LG Shine & Samsung Android phones do have this. HTC is small potatoes and their support shows it. Its a take it or leave it situation.

Same issue for me with HTC.
Just rang their support and asked, "how will I restore all my settings, if the handset is replaced?"
Answer, (no 'sorry' BTW) "you cannot do that".
Me, "So you could do it in 2.1, but since the upgrade to 2.2, that function is no longer there?"
    HTC, "that's correct"
