Upgrade Path ?

I currently have a Prevail running Android 2.2.2 with FROYO.ED13 build. I get messages notices from Boost about doing an update, but haven't done so.

I'd like to root the phone and load a better version of Android. Can someone point me to an easy direction. Would the updated Android support Flash web sites?
