I am upgrading the SD card on my Hero from 2 to 8GB. I connected the Hero to the computer via the USB cable. However, the phone does not connect to the computer. Do I need to install HTC Sync on the phone? I went to the market and the sync was for Evo4G updater and "Local Sync". I have Titanium Backup (TB). If I use TB do I back up the User Apps, the All System Data, or the System+Apps?

    Thanks for the help

You don't need HTC Sync (or its drivers) to connect as a removable drive. Check there's nothing in your notification bar asking how you want to connect.

Once connected open the removable drive in Explorer, and copy the contents to the PC. Then disconnect from the PC, unmount the card in Settings/Storage, replace it with the 8GB part, and reverse the process to copy contents back.

Titanium Backup doesn't touch external memory so it's of no use. Do you have apps installed to the sdcard?

Thanks. I did it a little different but I achieved the same results. I formatted the new SD card in computer. I then unmounted the old SD card, copied the contents to temp folder on the computer. Shutdown the phone. Copied the contents of the temp folder to the new SD card. Inserted the new card into the phone and then restart. Checked the storage (Settings/Storage) and the right amount of storage was correct for the SD card.

I saw your post and connected the the phone via USB and checked the notification window, and low and behold there was the notification to copy files the computer. Thanks for the tip.

I used Titanium Backup and selected the to option to copy all user apps to the SD card. Are the apps under one folder on the SD card? I have two widgets that copied the sd card. I think they weren't suppose to get moved. I assume I go to the market reinstall the associated apps.

    Thanks for your help

    Yes, they are in /.android_secure

Widgets will fail if installed to /sdcard and the card is unmounted e.g. when connected to a PC as a removeable drive. I'd advise moving them back to the phone memory.

Hi, hope this isn't to newbie, but I wondered if anyone could help with a couple of questions I have:

    1. I rooted my HTC Hero (am assuming this is 2.1 from the About page) using the SuperOneClick program - and this seemed to go fine, and I installed Link2SD on the phone. I have partitioned my 2GB SD card with FAT32/ext4 and Link2SD prompts me to select the partition type, but then reports that it "could not gain root access. Make sure you respond 'allow' to Superuser prompt." The issue is that I don't see a prompt. Where is this supposed to come up? Have I rooted correctly?

    2. I bought a new 16GB (Class 4) SD card, but am having problems partitioning it. I've had to wipe it a few times, and it doesn't show the full size in Minitool PM. Not sure what is going on here. Have I got a duff card? Is it too big?

Have I got the right version of Android on my phone? Do I need to upgrade - am perfectly happy with it, but just need more space!

    Thanks for any help.

OK - seemed to have fixed issue 1, by installing SuperUser from the market. This now allows Link2SD to try and create links to the 2nd partition. There is nothing mentioned about SuperUser in any of the threads about rooting - this is not an obvious step to have to take! :p

But now, I have a different issue - Link2SD is reporting that "Mount script cannot be created. write: No space left on device". Not sure why as I have cleared loads of space. Is this a permissions error?

This step is generally skipped due to the fact that when rooted a lot of methods automatically push superuser to the phone and nearly all Rom's come with superuser already on them, just for some clarification :)
