    As for using Google Voice:

Since i live in Puerto Rico even tho i am a sprint customer and i do own a sprint+google voice optimized device. Google seems to think that PR is some where in europe or south america and it denies my access to the service. So no google voice voicemail for me for now.

I have written to google about the issue tho since Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United states and heck! i own a device that is made to sync my sprint account with google voice. I'll keep you posted (if this particular problem is relevant to anyone else in this forums) as soon as they answer me.

I went to a sprint store and played with one for about 15 minutes. I liked it, but i don think it is enough to switch from my evo yet.

It was blazing fast, but the evo gets so much garbage on it after months of use, like apps, texts, and other random things here and there. So what i do is wipe it every month or two, and re download apps, and then i notice its just as fast as when i got it.

I would miss visual voicemail, and i dont really use google voice.

Battery life taking that long to charge concerns me. I like how my evo (and how the iphone was) up and ready to go at 100% rather quickly.

I really like the physical LED. I could live without it, i did with the iphone, but the evo and many blackberries i had have spoiled me.

And lastly, i was very suprised with the screen. I noticed some others saying how colors were off and i noticed that too. I absolutely love the screen quality on the epic, it is beautiful. But on the nexus i think it isnt as great. It looks a little darker and warmer and not as vibrant.
On the evo, yes its big and easy for people to look over your shoulder, but in handcent i make my fonts really small so its not too bad.

Anyway, i like the phone. I dont think ill be using my upgrade on it though, as it is just not 100% for me. I may wait and see what the evo 3D has to offer. Also, i will be getting married in a little over a month and will be needing to start a second line, and we might just switch to verizon instead :/

But it looks like a fantastic phone, and i hope you all enjoy it :)

    I've owned the Nexus S 4G for 72hours:

    Charge time

    * Using a USB port on my work computer, to go from a totally dead battery to a full charge takes 4 hours and ten minutes.

    * I compared the Nexus S 4G to a co-workers Motorola Atrix today, and the Nexus S basically did all my daily smart phone tasks faster, and felt more responsive. Even on pages with lots of flash, the Nexus S pinch to zoom was smoother and faster, making the notion that dual core is inherently better a dubious concept.

I can't even imagine how Gingerbread would run a Nexus S2 based on Galaxy S2 hardware.

Has anybody figured out how to use GV only for voicemail and not for texting? I would rather use handcent for texting and GV for voicemail only. Yesterday, it worked when I still had my Hero, but today with my Nexus S it all goes through GV.

    Thanks.

Motoblur is to blame for the lack of speed on the Atrix.

That may be true, but it is also irrelevant.

Caveats are not consolations for someone that's paid for an Atrix and expects Nexus S speed.

It is relevant, we are discussing the Nexus, which runs stock android and the Atrix was brought up, which runs on a custom UI. It goes to show how much some of the manufacturers custom interfaces can hinder the performance of their phone. Look at reviews of the Atrix and you will read about how slow it is, but read reviews for other Dual-Core phones, like the G2X, and you will read about how fast it is. Why? Because one runs a custom interface and one does not.

    Seems relevant to me...

Sure does. My phone running Cyanogen is a HELL of a lot faster on it's feet compared to one plodding along with a Sense rom on it. Everyone that's used it has something to say along the lines of 'Why isn't my phone running like yours?' (tons of Evo's here in charleston). It's because it's flat android. Nothing gagging it out like all the junk Sense brings with it.

Did you get any resolution to the GV Issues? My Google Voice will NOT pickup any calls or texts going to my Sprint Phone number even though the Google Voice "number" is the Sprint Number. I took advantage of migrating my Sprint Number to GV when that option came out recently. It worked perfectly on my EVO, then as soon as they moved the number to the Nexus S, no calls go through GV any longer.

Anyone have any ideas? Experiencing Same?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Anyone having issues with the screen sensitivity. Don't even know if I can explain it exactly but periodically I'll try to swipe the screen or open an app and the I get the haptic feedback but nothing happens. I have to hit the app 3-4 times before it will open or swipe the screen a few times before it'll move. Doesn't happen all the time, just every so often but it's annoying as hell
    Anyone have any suggestions.

I've had similar odd, intermittent issues. The screen sensing a press when I hadn't pressed it, but my finger was close. I was on a call, trying to switch to speaker phone and no matter how many times I hit the button, nothing. I have had some rare laggy behaviour on button pushes in the dialer. Random weirdness.

I did and it works but when i get a text message it shows for like 5 seconds and then the screen goes blank. Isnt it suppose to keep blinking or keep showing the notification until i unlock the screen?

Seeing the exact same thing. Especially the back button at the bottom seems to just stop. What happens is the light goes out on that button for two to three seconds. If I pressed it more than once, it queues up the presses and goes way back. Hmmm..

I've owned the Nexus S 4G for two weeks now.

The only thing that really irks me about this phone is the 4G speed which meager compared to every other Sprint 4G phone. If your phone isn't plagued with this issue, thank the Gods because literally every Nexus S 4G I have tested is like 50% slower than other 4G phones.

Outside of the 4G speed issue, this is pound for pound the best performing android phone you can buy. Forget paper specs, forget synthetic quadrant benchmarks, the Nexus S makes other Android phones look bad.

It handles graphics with ease, and is incredibly responsive. Everything pulls up quick, even flash pages. Overall, this phone is a great ambassador for android, where higher spec phones like the Atrix are comedy fodder for iPhone users.

This concludes my review of the Nexus S.

On a scale of 1 -10 it gets a solid 8. If it had 720P recording, a proper 4G speed, and HDMI mirroring it would be a 10 easily.

No, the camera does not zoom and I am glad. Digital zoom just degrades pic quality.

Check the settings in NoLED. It may be set to turn off after a short interval. You can change that.

I installed the Netarchy kernel (after rooting) and downloaded BLN Control Pro and now I just get the icon lights lighting up instead of turning on the screen.

I'd like to know this as well, getting the phone tomorrow and very new to androids. That's probably the only thing I'm going to change on the phone.
