Is there any benefits on upgraded the class of an SD card? Increased speed?

I have read alot about this and heard mixed answers but the most common answer is that they all read at the same speed. The only performance is in write speed and the dx will only write at a certain speed anyway. Im not sure if this is accurate but this is what i have been hearing.
The droid x comes with a class 4 micro sd card or atleast mine did. In theory you could get a 6mb/s increase in write speed by going to class 10. Of course that depends on if the droid x is capable of writing at that speed. But it should be noticeably faster than the class 4 if not 6mb/s faster. The droid x definitely transfers files slowly so it could make a huge difference, but not sure if class 10 has been tested.

Android uses small files so for most apps, a Sandisk class 4 is the best.
