Uploading to Google+

How in the world do I upload a photo to google+ without creating a post? I know it will automatically upload a photo I take with the camera but I just want to upload a couple that are already on my phone and not share it.

Go to pic, tap it, touch the share icon, tap the Google+ icon.

Pics uploaded to Google+ from phone automatically are not viewable that I know of by anyone but you.
