Root USB Flash drive - Tenuous

I'm trying to install S-Off or Gparted on a flash drive, I'm using Universal boot installer and I've tryed Unetbootin and neither of them work. Both hang on the BIOS screens of two computers and yes the BIOS is USB boot enabled. Anybody got any advice?

I had to turn off all other boot options on my pc to get it to boot first time now i dont bit weird but it worked

I've managed to get the BIOS to recognise the USB and it reprots back "operating system not found" no matter which utility I use!

I ave a faulty flashdrive, Unetbootin works on the card reader, which I can't use for gparted for obvious reasons. Ho hum.
