Will there be a user friendly root coming out for the incredible? I know unrevoked has a page for the incredible already...

yea the video made it look easy as pie but i think there are more factors that get root bc i can do what that video says in my sleep and still i fail

I have tried so many times and still can't get "exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -". Is there going to be an easier way soon that's not so seemingly luck based.

Same here and I've tried it on 5 different machines now (with XP, Vista and Win7). I'm thinking of rebuilding my Linux box just to see if it will change my luck.

Half the time I don't even get the first error when starting up adb shell.

I don't think it matters what computer OS you're using, as long as you have the USB drivers installed and can access the Incredible with adb when the phone is fully booted with USB debugging enabled. The computer doesn't even have access to the phone while it is booting the recovery mode to get to the required "exec ... failed" point. It isn't until this point is reached that the computer can access the phone via USB, due to the exploit. The unrevoked site mentions that it is probably caused by a race condition. I've only been able to achieve this so far with the method of quickly clicking in and out the SD card while booting recovery mode.

Jake Day posted today: "Packaged Incredible root (unrelated to the "method" that unrevoked put out)". He said it was coming soon. I will believe it when I see it but that is what he posted.

Does anyone know anything about this? You guys don't think he would post something like this again if it wasn't true, do you? I think even his internet friends would cut him off if he did that.

Lets just hope that if he did do it, that his method is a little more user friendly than the unrEVOked method, because I'm so sick of running that loop, pushing the SD card in and out and trying any of the other methods that come up. WE NEED AN EASIER METHOD!

He posted that he had overclocked kernels that he had tested and clearly that did not happen without a rooted phone. I hope he does come out with something but I'm not holding my breath.

So I rooted but forgot the step to make it stick after reboot. And now i'm unable to get the phone to install the file update file again, just tried like 50 times in a row. Im able to get the error: device not found and able to push busybox ota.zip su and Superuser.apk to the sdcard root. but when I try to

adb push payload-update.zip /sdcard/update.zip and power button on
"Apply:update.zip" (within in a half a second of course) It just will not take.

Anyone else experiencing this? Am I missing something simple?
