My Rocketfish hard wired car charger charges my phone just fine. I had a 3 hour drive yesterday and it charged my phone right up. Strange that yours has a problem.

None of the ones at a Sprint corporate store with a service center would work on two seperate 3D's.

Are you sure? It says it is charging, but if you check battery status it never moves.

As I asked flyjbaker, are you sure it charged? This was verified over numerous chargers and two phones, it will read that it is charging but it is actually not.

One possibility that might explain the situation, it may be addressed in the ota, which I had not installed.

If anybody else can verify please let me know, I find it strange a phone ordered online and one from a corporate store in Austin would have the same defect.

Yes I am sure. As I said it was plugged in over a 3 hour period and it charged it to 99%. Just double checked and plugged my phone in my car for 10 minutes. It went from 76% to 82%. I have all updates installed.

I use a hardwired 3rd party RocketFish charger (meant for Evo 4G) at home, and I got 16 hours of phone life yesterday (actually plugged it in before it got into the red because I was sitting in bed!). So if it isn't actually charging, it's doing a really good job at making my Evo think it's charged :p Seriously though, that seems like an odd problem.

Here's my experience with mine. It charges, but much slower than a wall charger.

I took note of the battery on the way home, it was at 62% when I plugged it in, and 35 minutes later it was at 68%. This was with 3G on and 4G off.

I plugged it in at home, with Wifi on and 3G/4G off, and in 10 minutes it went from 68% to 75%.

I have the Motorola charger, and it charges fine. It discharges fast, too when not connected to power.

Battery has improved as I learned about the phone, like how to touch menu and exit navigation. I use my home and car chargers alot to top it off, so it's not a big deal to me as a heavy user near power often. After 4 days, this is an awesome tool for me. Love it.

Somehow, while playing around in menus, I found swype on mine this morning, and activated it. I liked the old keyboard, but I can't get back to where I enabled swype. It works, too. I will get used to it.

This is strange, could this be a sitiuation where not all phones are affected or maybe an update issue? I just downloaded all updates, I will have to try the charger again later.

Hey everyone, just picked up my EVO 3D yesterday from a Best Buy Mobile shop. Must say I am impressed so far. It is super fast and feels great. Still reviewing the 3D content. I wish they would have organized the 3d content better on the phone so I know which is 3d and which isn't. Can someone give a quick breakdown on what is 3d and what isn't? I wasn't sure what kind of screen protection I needed so I had to ask the sales man. Needless to say, the Best Buy salesman suckered me into buying the Invisishield for $24.99 + $7.99 to install which they didn't mention until I discovered it on my receipt! Anyways, I noticed that with the Invisishield on, there are a few dim lines present on the screen. Is it true that this affect will go away after a couple weeks? Also more importantly, does the Invisishield affect the way 3D content is displayed or how the screen looks? The touch screen on my EVO 3D feels a bit rough compared to my Ipod Touch screen. I am not sure if this is because of the Invisishield or just how the EVO 3D screen naturally feels. The invisishield claims smudge proof, but in just 1 day there are finger prints everywhere on my screen lol. Also, I noticed the screen seems a bit fuzzy if you compare it to the crystal clear Ipod touch screen.

If you are coming from a Hero, Pre or any other archeic phone like that, this phone will blow you away. If you already had an Evo, Nexus or similar phone, you wont be very excited at all unless you are totally in love with 3D. Honestly, my Nexus S felt just as fast doing most everything the 3D does. Returned the 3D and went to TMobile for the Sensation for several reasons, read on if you care about those reasons.

Sensation has a superior camera and shoots full 1080p video
Sensation is lighter and thinner and feels better in hand
GSM is able to do voice and data at the same time
    SIM card with GSM
No extra charge for mobile hotspot feature on TMobile
TMobile plans are cheaper than Sprint
Tmobile's 4G doesnt eat battery life nearly as bad as Sprint's WIMAX

Bottom line, if you are stuck on Sprint, the Evo 3D is the way to go. If you want cheaper plans and IMO a superior carrier with a phone thats just as good if not better, you have choices.

What's up y'all. Just got back from Sprint to check out the EVO 3D and the View 4G.

Until the Photon 4G was announced, I was on the verge of going to the store to put a deposit down on the 3D. After checking it out in person, I'm actually really glad that I didn't put a down payment. Just in the short time that I played with the display version, these are the pros and cons I personally had:

    1) Pro-phone was noticeably easier to hold than the current EVO, even though it's taller (it's slimmer in width and felt less thick)
    2) Pro-Sense 3.0 was pretty cool and fluid
    3) Pro-Screen seemed just as clear if not more clear
    4) Pro-Camera, despite protruding, looks like they put a clear cover on top of the actual lenses, so it's probably much more protected than the current evo camera lens
    5) Pro-Camera takes clearer 2D pictures than my current EVO, despite only being 5mp camera for 2D (which tells me HTC improved their lenses)
    6) Con-3D, I really didn't think was that spectacular. I've never really felt like it was a "gimmick," but looking at some 3d photos and videos I shot with the display model...every single one made me dizzy looking at it (for those of you that don't remember me mentioning before, I have issues sometimes with 3D making me dizzy and also 1st person games). So having seen it in person, I'm definitely not a fan of the 3D on a phone (at least not yet and not until I can look at it without having to try and find the right position to really see the 3d effect and/or make an extra effort to make it pop out visually)
    7) Con-Sense 3.0 didn't have the different launcher skins, where the bottom phone/apps/settings buttons could be customized to look different. In the video reviews, they showed that those could be changed to look differently. I saw that there were only 3 pre-loaded skins. I saw that you can download/find more if you sign up for Sense account, but I obviously couldn't do that in store. For those of you that have had the device since Wed., have you downloaded any new skins and if so, are any of them transparent skins?
    8) Con-No built in kickstand. I could see how great this phone would've been with a built in kickstand, but completely understand why they didn't include it as it's been discussed ad nauseam. Even still, I couldn't see myself using a built in case with a kickstand for this.
    9) Con-internal storage. Despite being able to remove some bloatware apps, I could easily see myself running into memory issues a year down the line, just like with my current EVO.

All-in-all, I think the EVO 3D is a very, very good device and phone and will suit some people perfectly. Unfortunately, for me, I will not be continuing with my HTC purchases for the past several years. Right now, the Photon 4G is still my top choice. I'm still hesistant with the SGS 2, despite all the great reviews everywhere.

And for those of you that are wondering about the View 4G, I was actually on the verge of purchasing it, but ultimately I wanted to wait to see what else is available. I still may purchase it because the stylus works pretty well when writing notes (a lot better than I thought it would) and you can only write on the notepad with the sylus, otherwsie you have to use the keyboard.

Hope this helps people overall, if they're on the fence with the EVO 3D. I HIGHLY suggest people go in and see it in person first, prior to making a decision.

Is T-mobile really cheaper than Sprint w/ all that you get from Sprint's lowest plan?

    great reasons for some...

    here are some more info:
will be att soon.. with all their crap and dicking with android
2GB data ceiling... then you get slowed down to 2G speeds for the rest of the month.

yes i think so.. they are cheaper now.. that they have lowered their prices (special).

they are trying to grab as many customers as possible.
before att comes in and slaps them around.

For my uses it is. With Sprint I paid $69 a month for 450 minutes to land lines and unlimited text/mobile to mobile, $10 for their premium phone service, $7 for insurance and a ridiculous $30 a month for the mobile hotspot. So about $116 plus taxes. My Tmobile plan is $79 for unlimited everything and it includes insurance. I dont have to pay a thing for the Hotspot feature either. It does have a 5MB cap but if you go over, it doesnt charge you anything, you just drop down to 3G speeds. So yes, my bill will be about $25 a month cheaper and I dont have an annual contract.

There is no guarantee their caps will change just because they are merging with AT&T. Even so, its not expected to be a done deal till next year anyways. Lets be honest, the main reason people get TMobile is for the cheap plans and generous data caps. Dont think AT&T is stupid enough to take away the main thing that has people signing up with TMobile. Not concerned with that now anyways :)

Thanks for the 411. I didn't realize that they were cheaper now. Only thing for me is that, T-Mobile doesn't get service at all at my house, so not an option...but good to know, if the service gets better up here. I've been with Sprint for 10 years, so probably not a good move to leave, unless they get bought out by another company.

You cant get service in LA? Wow, my signal kicks butt when I am in LA. Full 4G bars all around unless I get above Sunset, then it gets spotty but so did Sprint up near the hills.

I have to admit, I would still be with t-mobile if they had phones like the sensation this time last year. I like the ability to click over and actually know what is going on amd whos on the line. I also like the fee hotspot and customer service second to none.

    My First Impressions

The resolution, speed and build are all amazing. I am repeatedly impressed when I turn the phone on and it simply works. The resolution is flawless to my eye. The speed gets everything done when I want it done and has shown no hesitation. When I talk of build, I mean the software/hardware altogether. I love the lockscreen and the whole carousel implementation. The quick settings pull down on the notification bar is something I am really glad to have.

The call quality performs as I need it to do. Through all the mobile-mobile and mobile-landline calls I have made, I can hear them and they can hear me. No dropped calls in this short time.

I love the Reader app they included. I enjoyed reading a book on it yesterday as I waited to have my car finished tinting.

My music plays just the way I like it. I really like the fact that the music player is on the lockscreen when you launch it if something is playing. Very cool. The music player has the SRS and equalizer that I use on my bluetooth headset and on the bluetooth transmitter. That is incredibly cool. I didn't have that before.

I am still testing out the battery, but it works for as long as I need it, so that is a win. I fully intend on getting the Seidio extended battery with replacement back cover. Bigger battery, black back cover sans red ring and the camera lens is recessed.

The camera functions just fine for my use. I have no need for the 3D portion myself as I am blind in the left eye. I took several pics of my car, part as test and part as before/after tint job. Color me impressed there as well.

The only issue I have at this time is the display of some of my favorite apps. As far as I know, they are not designed for this resolution so that is most likely either an update away or may not happen. Honestly, a small price to pay, IMO.

I am very happy with this phone. It does everything I want it to do quickly, efficiently, powerfully, and has style and substance to back it up.

I don't think it would be an update issue. I mean chargers are chargers and if it charges at home it should charge in the car. Maybe it is a voltage thing. How did you test the chargers in store? Maybe it is just charging slowly. The first day I had mine it seemed to take forever to charge.

I got the same one, was told it has to dry, the guy told me 24 hours, already looks a bit better, 3d still looks good, slightly washed out, no finger prints on mine, the guy e ven used a small squegee to apply the screen protector, and some liquid he sprayed on the shield
