using a non-activated android phone

    can i use gps/location services, downloading from google play, calender, gmail etc etc on a non-activated phone? like, can i just use a wifi connection to access everything,,,,,except of course the actual phone function itself

    Yes, you can do everything but make calls or send texts.

    Hi miltk, and welcome to AF :)

    If it's a GSM handset (uses a SIM card) then sure you can.

    CDMA (Verizon etc) I'm not so sure, as I've no experience of those (I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic for that technology).

    My daughter uses an old HTC EVO 3D as a wifi device with no problems. We even use Gtalk to call each other and IM. Before that, I had her using an OG Droid.
