Using Bluetooth Media Controls, WITHOUT streaming Music

I am looking into something like this product: Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - supports aptX : Accessories

Its a bluetooth handsfree/music streaming device.

My question is, is there a way to have the media control commands (play/pause/skip etc) that are phyical buttons on the unit sent via bluetooth to my Google Nexus 7 Tablet.... BUT have the actual audio out on the tablet go out through the 3.5mm headphone jack on the tablet?

Basically I want to use this as a remote control for my tablets music player? Is that possible?

Technically, yes. Practically? That would mean rebuilding the tablet and rewriting some of the firmware, so no.
