Using Tango from a samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 editon to an ipad

Hi There. could you please clarify whether The app "Tango" which i use for video calling will work from a galaxy note to an ipad? The reason i ask is that the sales assistant in the shop said that video calling on Tango only works if there is a cellular network involved, and therefore wont work from a galaxy note to an ipad?
