What's the value of any device?

It's got a 1.5Ghz processor (more than other comparable phones like the razr) and has 1080p hd screen, which others like the razr don't have.

The screen is 1280x720, not 1080p.

Being unlocked and running a custom ROM would add value only to people who probably already know how to do that for themselves. I think most regular users would care more about the voided warranty.

Then again, anyone reading your post here would care, at least a little bit.

What I'm getting at is that rooting the phone and adding a custom ROM probably doesn't add much value. I'd try selling the phone for $100-150 over the contract price.

Crap, you're right. I was going off memory and mistook the 1280 for 1080.

Being unlocked is a HUGE selling point for me, but for the average joe that doesn't rom their phone, it's really not as you said.

I paid $129 for my Spectrum. No one was giving away 4g phones when I was ready to buy. I waited a month for something to go on sale. All I found were older phones, non dual processor phones, 3g phones, etc. When I decided I wanted the Spectrum, no one had them in stock. If they did have them in stock, they were expensive. Radio Shack said they didn't have it yet, and might not get it, same with Best Buy. I lucked up and found it at HHGregg for $129 and bought it.
