Hi to all my fellows.....i am using DHD......initially it was a rooted phone...then i degraded it with the help of RUU which was suggested by our great guide D-U-R-X....every thing went well and i got another version of firmware in my phone and i am very thankful to the guide for his devoted efforts....while writing these words i just remember one thing....DURX said and i quote"changing the ROM is just like a new toy every week" i totally agree.thats why i am here....now i want to install a vanilla android ROM on my phone...i hope once again DURX (God knows whats his actual name :)) will come up with some solution....

looking forward for suggestions ...cheers

Hello again my friend :)

There are several possibilities for you... at present there are some Ice Cream Sandwich ROM's available for the DHD but, as this version of Android has not been officially released for the phone yet, there are some things that don't work properly. That said, I, along with lots of others, use one of the ICS ROM's as a daily for my phone.

Take a look at this thread http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...ngs-root-guide-updated-24th-march-2012-a.html - there is a list of custom ROM's on there :)

Your phone is unrooted. You would need to root your phone before you can install a custom ROM on your phone... follow the root guide link in the thread I linked above.

If you have any questions, post in here and we will try to help ;)

Hi My friend!
i just viewed the thread that you suggested....i have selected mafia http://recluster.net/maffia/releases/Maffia_DonUber_1.0_7.zip...and i am going to use it...i will let you know the results and my phone specs after installation....thanks again for early reply

cheers

Hi,

Just thought I'd let you know that the ROM is very good, but unfortunately there is a bug where it is unable to batch restore apps from titanium backup. You should try anyway because it may work for you but if it doesn't you will have to restore each app manually or re download from the market.

Hope it goes well :)

Best of luck... for your info, most people who rooted using the hack kit have said that it is best to do so in a linux environment (there are instructions in the Hack Kit on how to create an Ubuntu CD and root from there), as there are no errors in that environment :)

Hi to all my friends...
well i have downloaded Hack Kit and the rom that i want to install....now whats the next step...i am using windows visa home premium 64 bit and dont have linux...secondly i even dont know the a b c of linux environment......whats the solution for this problem? i have read the thread all things rooted and then rooting guide...what i have extracted from thread is that it should be used in linux environment only......any answer to my query?

waiting for reply...

cheers to all forum mates

In the AAHK zip, there is a manual... in the manual, it explains what you need to do.

The best advice is to read through the manual a couple of times and, if you can, create a Ubuntu Live CD (instructions in the manual) - you can then run linux from the CD and use that environment to run the AAHK.

I am basing my advice on what others who have rooted using the Hack Kit have said, as I have not actually used it myself (I should be doing so in the next couple of weeks, when a friend brings me his DHD to root). Hopefully one of the other members who has used the Hack Kit will be able to shout up with some words of wisdom :)

Have a look at post #9 here:

http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-all-things-root/506431-cant-root-my-desire-hd-help-please.html

Once you are in terminal, just follow the commands given in the effen guide.

You can root in Windows, the problem is that windows will always try to use signed drivers (HTC) so this causes problems using ADB which relies on Android platform generic (native) drivers....don't have this issue in Linux, nor do you get USB stack errors!!

If you get stuck post back, but Linux is the way to this.

Hi guys...
my story is quite tragic....since last one week i am stuck with Linux....i downloaded linux twice once 64 bit and then 32 bit....and then burn the dvd....but i am stuck due to the fact that i am unable to boot the system with linux....any comments or suggestions?the link i used for linux is the same as it was given in one of the posts named rooting guide....guys help me out with this...currently i am using HP pavilion dv6 series notebook which has factory installed 64 bit vista home premium.....i am using nero to burn dvd

One more thing i need to tell you...i have tried Oracle virtual machine to use Linux but i get the same problem.....Linux is unable to load in virtual machine....what can be possible cause?

You need to go into your BIOS on your computer and set it to boot from CD (which needs to be number 1 in the order of what boots first.) Hopefully this should make it boot the Linux CD as soon as the computer is turned on. Also, use the 32 bit version.

I can give you a more detailed description tomorrow morning, I'm on my phone at the moment and not near a computer so can't help more, sorry!
