What is the best method to backup the SD contents before rooting? The rooting instructions say to "back up what you want"...how do I know what I want/need to backup?

I have app groups on my home page. Do I assume these will be gone during rooting? Should I take screenshots of each group so I know what's in each group?

I assume backup assistant will take care of contacts so I only need to re-sync after rooting.

Anything else I need to know about backing up?

Afterwards I will use Ti Pro but before rooting need to cover all bases.
    Thx

backup assistant should never be used on a google phone.

your contacts are backed up on your google acct. Also as a fail safe i would go to your contacts hit menu/import/export and export the .vcf file just in case to your sd.

use SMS Backup to backup your text messages if you want to.

screenshots would be good if you want to remember how you had your screens set up.

then when your all done you could copy the contents of the sdcard partition to a folder on your pc to back that up.

    Thanks.
So aside from wiping /SD, rooting does nothing else in /SD, so I can simply copy SD to my computer and afterwards drop it back on the phone with no ill consequences?

Obviously I assume I'll have to reconfigure ringtones, pics for each contact, all app settings...basically reconfigure everything.

correct or you can just save out the stuff you need to save out of the sd and not the whole thing. Like pics, the .vcf file you put there, your sms backup file, any music or videos.
