Does root and unlock matter ?

I have an unlocked and rooted phone on STOCK software. Will I get the ota?

Last update worked, but un-rooted me, and kept it unlocked. But it was a minor update.

Eh I'm done for the night too. I must have tried over 50 times to download this mother today with no luck. Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow I can get it.

    Hello,

    (1) Whats the difference between the Verizon JB as stock and JB unlocked on a ROM? Pros and Cons?

I'm starting to think this framework trick doesn't really do anything and that its just a coincidence that it "seems" to work. I tried for a couple hours yesterday and for the last hour non stop and still don't have the update.

Took about nine tries for me.

Keep at it, people. It works. It worked for the last update, it works for this one. Do it up to 20 times if you have to.

I've tried it at least 50 times. No update. And some of them were in the middle of the night when the servers would't be under high demand.

Anybody got a screen shot of the text it is putting up there while updating? It describes the new features and I want to save it.

just did the framework trick on my wifes phone, worked 2nd try. I didn't disable cell, just enabled wifi. it's not rooted/rommed/anything either. Not sure if it was the framework trick or just luck, but end result is both of our phones have it now. happy saturday!

I thought so too. I had tried it several times last night and early this morning with no luck. Came back just a little while ago checked for updates the normal way and no updates, immediately went to the framework trick just for the heck of it and on the first try it updated. I am convinced it works just have to keep trying from time to time.

Well after I posted that I hit the check now button about 6 times and got the update without the "trick". I still say its just coincidence.

I have tried for probably 100 times since yesterday afternoon and finally just got the update. Now the message says available on wifi only until Oct. 2

I am in Georgia if that helps.

I also think it's a coincidence. if the force stop of GSF was working it would work for all. and it would work on the first try. not 20th. I think it's just a timing thing and the download will happen when it's time for your phone to get it. I don't have it yet.

I've been trying the framework trick off and on since the update was announced. Finally worked this morning after 3 cycles.

Forcing framework does work. Just give it time. I started yesterday a few times and nothing. This morning, nothing. Waited a few hours and now it took it.

    Downloading

    146.6 Mb
Via Wi-Fi only until Oct 2

    Thanks everyone!

Thinks about it, if that really worked then it should work the first time. Needing to do it several times says coincidence. You don't think that few hours of wait time had anything to do with it? ;)

You all that received the update via "the trick"...what angle were you holding your phone at? What finger did you use to press "force stop" and "clear data"? Did you use the same finger, or one finger for each of the various steps? I've tried various angles and multiple fingers, and I'm still having no luck...;)

  23. Worked last time, worked this time..............that's really all the matters.

And if there is a next time, I'm sure it will work then too.

You may be right.. Not sure, but when I got mine this morning I first checked for updates the regular way and no updates, went immediately to the "trick" and it updated. I guess either way it keeps us amused and busy till the update comes in!

I am just glad it finally got here.
