I am on JB now and still don't know what the big fuss is about... :)

My bars have gone down to 2 from 4, this is from the same place I always leave my phone.

Things are a tad smoother. yes, but not life changing.

I tried using the BT on one call that I always get a bad sound quality response and still got the same.

I would like to be able to change the Google search bar background color on the home screen. it used to be blank but now it's an annoying gray.

I'm about to throw this phone out the window. As I mentioned before, I was able to download the JB OTA three times, but each time received the Android with the caution during installation.

I tried to go into recovery mode to do the partition option and that gave me the android with the caution as well.

Finally, I reset to factor settings, downloaded JB OTA and during installation received the Android with the caution...

Is there anything else for me to do now or do I need to take this phone back?

I'm torn between thinking its coincidence and thinking that what I tried actually worked, but I'm currently downloading the update.

Here's what I tried, if anyone else wants to give it a shot. I had been doing the framework trick, but force closing first, and then clearing data. This time, I cleared data and then forced closed, and it worked right away.

I don't know if I actually made a difference, but I figured I'd share and if it did, help other people.

did anyone get an error from the Play Store saying it can't verify their account after trying the framework trick? That's happened to me.

Gave up on the trick. Update was waiting when I woke up this morning. Time to play with phone and check it out.

I tried this method this morning and it actually worked this time! I tried this one in the past yesterday, but I think I didnt try just clearing the data and not hitting disable. Prior to it I tried just stopping and clearing the framworke which didnt work. I did this one and then BAM, downloading and installing.

This may not be exactly the place for this question, and I know I sound like an extreme n00b (and, in a lot of ways, I am). But: I can see from looking at screenshots that the update won't affect my current apps' installations and that most settings will remain the same. But is there anything specific I should back up or write down before updating; and if I'm running Go Launcher EX (I'm usually anti-launchers, but this sucker fixed every issue I had with the ICS UI), should I stop it/uninstall it prior to updating? Don't want a mutant Jelly Bean.

Edit: Oh, yeah; I've also got the encryption on; that shouldn't be an issue, right?

Haha I tired 100 times last night with no luck and 5 times this morning until I read your post...its downloading now! Thanks!

Ditto. Woke up this morning and had the update waiting. I'm happy "the trick" worked for some folks, but I could never get it to do anything for me. Hope everybody has it pushed to them soon.

Well, allow me to answer my own questions: Jelly Bean does not seem to be fazed by Go LauncherEX or by encryption. Upgraded today following the force stop method, six attempts (force stop each time). JUST reviewed but my God, it runs so smooth it's like a whole new phone. Only drawback with encryption is lock screens: one for the PIN and one with the slide. (edit: it did this on boot but not when it went to sleep.)

Sounds like you are rooted and have CWM recovery installed.

    Try this:

Boot into recovery. (Power on with both volume keys pressed. Release when you feel the phone vibrate.) Press the volume keys until you see "recovery mode", then press the power button. If you see CWM recovery, then try using the touch screen to "install zip from sdcard", then "browse" for the file and install it.

If the touch screen doesn't work, use the volume keys to navigate and power button to do the highlighted task again.

Option B (or if CWM or TWRP aren't installed): would be to use WUGS and flash the stock recovery and let the update install itself.

life changing? you might of been expecting too much. JB is a 60fps UI which, while YES NOT life changing, is pretty awesome.

Always a lurker but I had to jump in on this one....for 2 days I've been waiting and trying the force close and data clear before checking for updates...I had only done it maybe 10 or so times but finally started buying into the "Coincidence" theory and stopped. This morning I had checked several times and out of curiousity with no luck then tried the force close trick and it's downloading now!

Some people are reporting that Google Wallet is interfering with the update. I had been trying to get Jelly Bean all weekend, but as soon as I uninstalled Wallet I got it, first try.

Just a couple of additional jelly bean observations: boots to "enter password to decrypt" much, much faster, but time from there to standard lock screen seems longer. Haven't seen the slide to unlock screen since. Haven't played with Google Now very much but everything seems to be running fine. Can't tell a difference in reception yet.

I just tried "the trick" after doing a regular check (with no results) and it found the update and is currently downloading... so I think it works.

For whatever it's worth, I was unable to get the update. I just unistalled Google Wallet, cleared Google Services Framework data, used the check in number, and checked for updates, after wchich Jelly Bean began downloading right away.

Kk I've done the trick and the number on wifi connected and I'm still not getting the update. I don't have Google wallet installed either.

I'm just going to do the wave instead now.

Google wallet was blocking mine. Just now I un installed Google wallet, cleared framework cache, rebooted phone, force closed framework, cleared cache and checked update and it was there. Google wallet un install was the only thing different I have done for 2 days.
