I've never signed up before for any other phone, so I'm curious how it works. I signed up for the "latest" (which, of course, as of now has been absolutely nothing) information on the TB. Do they actually send anything out? Do they say anything in advance, or email you on release date -- which I could get that from here faster than that. :p

I just need something solid to tell myself it's okay. I do not need to keep refreshing. The information will come to me. :D

Oh gosh, I forgot that I even signed up for that. Jeeze that was a waste of time. I haven't gotten anything yet either and I have never done this before. Goodluck!

I really have to wonder if as another poster put it, this is all just free advertising. I mean, there may be people up there in their ivory towers way smarter than me (not hard) and they've got their info from their little think tanks and as it turns out causing internet hysteria, for lack of a better phrase, is the thing to do. It will make everyone want the item. Maybe they saw a spike in sales for the Inc when that debacle happened, who knows?

You won't get anything until it's time to order online.

Well, it's pretty true if you think about it. The rare-to-see commercial they put out with the lightning graphics and the kid counting.....the "It's Coming" ad from the site. Chump change. No REAL marketing has to go into it because we are doing all the selling. We (as in the community) find research and research, find the specs, run comparisons, put everything in a fairly neat little package, get hyped about it, hype up our friends, and bam, killer product. :D

Totally agree. I'm guilty of ALL of that.

And then there's the whole iPhone conspiracy theory, which could be entirely true as well. Wanna lock the i-suckers in first.

ETA: And on a marketing note, Verizon, I have told you I don't know how many times to not show me the iPhone message again, yet you do. I know it's there. I don't want it. Thankyouverymuch.

That's true. The "word of mouth" for this product has gotten pretty big I would assume.

The most expensive ad space they've had is probably that ad that was on CNN.com earlier this week.

It is all one big cluster you know what and all we can do is let time keep moving...and keep checking here like it is my job. Thank goodness my little first-graders don't really know what their teacher is looking at every time he passes the computer, hits refresh and delays at the screen for a second or two. Ah, it's the day before break, they probably couldn't care less. Haha. :)

I actually signed up for the iPhone email alerts and Thunderbolt alerts through Verizon. I received a ton of iPhone emails starting weeks in advance, but have yet to receive anything on the Thunderbolt. Shocking right?

LOL! I work from home, so this whole waiting game is NOT helping my productivity. I should try to get work done now, before I get the TB in my hands and have to take off for customizing. :D

The last time I signed up for updates on a Verizon phone it was for the Incredible and all they ever did was send an email the day of release saying it was now available to order. By the time I got the email I already had my new phone in my pocket.

For the Incredible I never got a notification from Verizon, it was out and I never received anything.
