Can someone share a guide on how to root 4.3? Thanks
Have you looked at http://androidforums.com/verizon-ga...809232-rom-verizon-stock-4-3-rooted-ota.html?
[TOOL/UTILITY] CASUAL- NO You Verizon - xda-developers
it won't move to download mode
edit:now just waiting for it to be recognized by Windows,it hasn't been recognized
What is waiting, ODIN?
Have you doownoaded it? Try Odin307.zip (453,20 KB) - uploaded.net
Then unzip it to a folder, run the .exe file.
Restart your phone in bootloader mode (Press the VolDown/Home/PowerOn buttons altogether). Once it starts, key the VolUp key.
Plug your phone into the computer (use the OEM cable that came with your phone, I've heard that it works best.)
Then there should be an indication in the upper left above the ID:COM label that shows your phone is connected to ODIN.
You will need to unzip the Wifi/Modem file with a 7z unzipper, try 7-Zip
Unzip that file to a folder, then click the PDA (NOT THE PHONE button) button on ODIN and select that file to add.
Now you can click start and watch the message window. Once the box above the ID:COM box changes to RESET, then PASS, the phone should reboot and restart.
Then you'll need to put the large recovery file on your phone using TWRP.
Copy the large recovery file to a SD card and put it in your phone.
If you already are rooted with the CASUAL root for 4.1.2, then restarting your phone with the VolUp/Home/PowerOn buttons restarts it in the TWRP mode.
When in TWRP, click the Factory Reset to reset the phone. Then click Install and select the recovery file.
It took about 30 seconds or so to install that (I was surprised). then reboot your phone normally. It should be rooted now.
My phone stayed in download mode and it was waiting for Windows 8.What file do I need to zip?I unrooted my phone to get the 4.3 update.
I guess I'm not sure what you mean by "download" mode then. Are you trying to get the OTA (Over The Air) update? I attempted to unroot mine too, but it still wouldn't install, so I had to go this way.
I downloaded the newest Casual and then start working on it.Once my phone gets in Download mode it just sits there.so it's stuck at that point
Are you trying to install the version Colchiro mentions above?
Casual won't work to install 4.3.
He said it would work.I asked in another post, according to a post that he saw.can you give me all the files I'll need?already have the Odin that you linked me
The files are in ★ [Rom][I605VRUEMJ9][4.3] "Official" Stock Root Odex/Deodex [12/20/13]★ - xda-developers
You'll need either the odex or deodexed recovery file (t0ltevzw_MJ9_Odex.zip | by BeansTown106 for Galaxy Note 2 is the odex version) and the wifi/modem file (toltevzw_mj9_official_firmware.tar.md5.7z | by BeansTown106 for Galaxy Note 2)
does this unlock the bootloader as well?
You have to have it unlocked to start with.
When you turn your phone on with the VolUp/Home/PowerOn buttons, does it restart in the TWRP mode? If not, then your bootloader is not unlocked.
I don't know the routine to unlock it though. Sorry.
Darn, guess I won't have root for a while
Sounds like a Samsung driver issue. Maybe uninstall Samsung drivers and reinstall. Also make sure you have the latest Java.
Casual will boot it into download mode and unlock/root, but since it used a different driver in download mode than when it's booted into Android, I think that's where the problem lies.
the phone gets into download mode, but Casual still says "searching for download mode"
Have you tried returning to stock, then running the CASUAL routine?
See [GUIDE][VZW Edition]How to Root/Rom/Return to Stock the VZW Galaxy Note II! - xda-developers
yeah I am on stock 4.3
Do you have TWRP installed on your device?
When you turn your phone on with the VolUp/Home/PowerOn buttons, does it restart in the TWRP mode?
nope I completey went back to stock with a lock bootloader :/ I'll have to wait to get root back

Did you try a different USB cable? (See the troubleshooting guide above.)
Tried 3 different USB cables in all USB ports on both my netbook and desktop,no luck
guess I won't have root for a while
Maybe they broke root when they added Knox.
Have you tried this method yet?

I just got a replacement phone for a broken screen, but haven't looked to see what version OS is on the replacement. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is still 4.1.2, but in case it's 4.3, I'll be giving this a try.
Post #624 on that page says it worked for his NoteII: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49041349&postcount=624
