I use System app remover ( New2Android | Comments Are A Developers Portal To Improvement ) to debloat my phone after rooting. I always make a backup using the program, before uninstalling. I have access to all the apk's that were backed up. when I try to reinstall an app, the remover program asks me if it is a system app, and I select yes, it installs it, but then it is not functional.

in the folder of backups, you will see the apk file and an additional file with same name saying "deodexed"

basicly, I am trying to reinstall the "job manager" app. this is on the S4 where you hold down the home button, then you get a list of running programs and then you have the option to kill the running apps. right now I can hold the home button and view running apps, but can not kill them, the option is gone.

    any help?

well, even though there is no response, it's a bit irrelevant now as I did a full restore/repair with the Samsung manager program that was installed on my pc, then re-rooted. all is good now :)

Well, its good that you got it working. If I had gotten here sooner I would have suggested checking to see if the app was installed in the user app (data/app) folder instead of the system app (system/app) folder. I had that happen with the play store on my old phone. Took me 3 days of searching before I finally found a solution that worked. If it was installed in data/app then you could have cut and pasted the apk into the system/app folder and then rebooted. That probably would have worked.
