So I have a Macbook and no easy way to be able to use a PC for this - has a method come out yet for rooting the 4.1.1 release through a Mac? Any help much appreciated.

There may be a way, but I have not seen it.
I can look around and get back here with info if I find it:)

I think it's the same as the PC version, but you have to use Heimdall instead. Odin is for PCs only, while Heimdall can be used on both Mac or Linux if I recall.

I have the same problem. Apparently, though, heimdall 's current version does not work for the US variants of the s3...maybe I'm wrong though.
I would love a step by step.
