Root [Verizon] Latest Update Fail

Hi Everyone,

My verizon S3 is currently rooted but looks like Verizon is pushing an update to my phone but when I run it it fails but keeps asking me to run it or defer it. Do I need to flash back to stock do the update and then re-root or is there a way around this.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Yes, the OTA update will only take if your phone is stock. You will also have to have all of the original bloatware on the phone, however, I'm not sure if it needs to be enabled.

You shouldn't need to unroot and many apps will allow you to keep root through the update. So you may want to check the stickies at the top of the forum to see if one is linked.

Are you on the stock rooted rom or a custom rom?

Thanks, I dont have the original bloatware installed anymore. I think I should go back to stock and start over, sucks.

Not necessarily...you can find a rom that has the updates baked in

Or, do you have SuperSu installed?
Are you running a stock, rooted rom or a custom rom at the moment?

Im running stock rooted rom 4.1.2, I actually just flashed the stock unrooted rom and and wiped the device back to complete stock. OTA installed fine. There was probably and easier fix but sometimes it feels good to start from square one again.
