I would like to set duckduckgo.com as my default search engine in Chrome on my lgk20v. However, whenever I click on the Chrome icon on my home screen, this prompt shows: "Welcome to Chrome. By using this application you agree to Chrome's Terms of Service and privacy notice...Accept and continue"
How can I proceed from there to make duckduckgo my default search engine without accepting Chromes terms of service and privacy notice.

Many thanks for ur reply...but this does not answer my question entirely.
On my lgk20v Chrome is (not my choice) installed as the default browser.
Whenever I try to connect to the web I get the above message from Chrome.
I feel we should be given a choice to install our preferred browser instead of being forced to accept Chrome's terms of service and privacy notice, which I firmly believe is an invasion of one's privacy and free choice.
That being said, have we no choice to install an alternate browser, or search engine of our choice?

Any further helpful suggestions will be much appreciated.

you can change your default browser to duckduckgo. i just installed it on my note 10+ and the very first thing it asked was if i want to set it as the default launcher and it did. you can also check and set your default in the phone's setting under app management.

My original question above..how can I set duckduckgo.com as my default web browser - do I first have to click on Chrome before I can access the web to set duckduckgo.com. My question is do I have to first accept Chrome's terms of service and privacy policy before I can even get on the web on my phone? How else can I get on the web ...Chrome is preinstalled on my phone as the only web browser..what are my options for getting on the web without going to Chrome and accepting their terms of service - which I do not want to do as I consider it an invasion of my privacy? Thanks again, but none of the above replies have answered my original question and concern.

again as i said in previous posts..... it automatically asks if you want to set it as your default. but if you want you can go into your phone settings and look under app management, find duckduckgo and set as default.

Stop opening chrome to get on the internet. Once you install the duck duck go browser, open it to get on the internet.
    No chrome needed!!!!

Since Chrome is apparently set as the default for some app or service on your phone, try going into your Settings >> Apps menu, find and open the Chrome app listing, tap on 'Force stop', then find and tap on 'Clear data'. This will wipe all of the Chrome app's config settings and its cache. Now tap on the Disable button. This won't remove it from your phone but it will deactivate it from your phone's internal listing of active apps. At this point it shouldn't be showing as a default option when you click on something that prompts to select a default browser.
If you later need the Chrome app for whatever reason, you can always enable it again.

svim: thank you very much for your reply. As per your advice I have set Chrome to Force Stop and disabled it.

ocnbrze: Thank you very much for your reply >>>you can change your default browser to duckduckgo. i just installed it on my note 10+ and the very first thing it asked was if i want to set it as the default launcher and it did. you can also check and set your default in the phone's setting under app management.<<< I cannot find "app management" or duckduckgo listed.

Dannydet: Thank you very much for your link to duckduckgo.com. Should I just click on Install to make it my default browser to access the web on my phone? no problems??

Use whichever browser app you yourself prefer, the primary distinctions between all the browsers is their respective user interfaces and feature sets. Other than that they all (for the most part) provide the same capabilities (i.e. adequate HML5 and javascript support, two things that most web sites rely upon). As for making the DuckDuckGo search engine your preferred default, that's not necessarily an option relative to the Android OS or your phone model, that gets determined by your chosen browser app -- set it in the app's settings/preferences/options menu.

Thank you very much for your assistance. My Lgk20v apps/settings does not show preferences/options menu so I am unable to use this feature to enable duckduckgo as my preferred default search engine. I just wonder where I can find this settings/preferences/options on my phone?
