I have had the hanging sending issue in Hangouts since I got this back in May so that isn't new. What other issues did the GS4 exhibit with KitKat?

That was the only issue I noticed. Just a couple others complained about the same SMS issue and also stated that their overall signal strength weakened. I only noticed the SMS issue.

I haven't had the SMS issue since switching to the M8.

I agree this device lasts all day for me and then some. Extreme Power saver may just be another space taking function, I have no use for. Verizon didn't implement it from the start, so why now... Who complained?

I for one have been looking forward to eps. I think it will be great for long days, away from a charger, phone is down to 10%... turn on eps and have no worries about losing basic functions before getting to a charger. Also nice for camping, can just leave it in eps for days. But yes the battery on this phone is good enough that MOST of the time, eps will not be needed.

Holding off, as I'm rooted and would like to stay that way, and I'm pretty darn happy with my phone exactly the way it is.

I have been traveling for a few days by car. Bluetooth in car worked great until the update. It now cuts out every few minutes. I found out today by elimination that shutting off the WiFi, the issue ceases, but comes right back when Wife is enabled.

Why would u have the WiFi on while in ur car?? Why would u have it turned on at all qwhen u don't need it? All that will do is drain ur battery quicker

This is my 7th Android phone and I have always kept my WiFi on. There have been discussions about the subject for years and
more often then not, people recommend WiFi stay on. I don't notice any battery drain at all.

And back to the point, WiFi on should not cause this issue. I am going to open a tech case with HTC.

I'm noticing after the update battery does indeed take a hit. I've noticed htcmirrowlink, speak, people, and messages running in background quite a bit. Wasn't before the update. Hopefully I won't have to use this use to be unnecessary extreme power saver. Kind of disappointed. Why is all that running?

Unless you have your WiFi radio setup to sleep or it is off there is a draw on the battery when you leave the WIFI radio on. If you leave a single light on in a car does it use up battery power to keep running that light? Yes it does. Leaving any radio on is going to put a draw on the battery. Download GSAM battery monitor if you think I'm lying. The app will tell you how much battery juice your WiFi radio has utilized. When I'm switching radios I usually turn the other one off that I'm not using. If I'm around WIFI I leave it on and if I'm not then I leave my 4G LTE radio on. Both radios are setup to sleep when my phone goes to sleep.

I had a Sprint Tech in the store tell me I should always leave 3G/4G LTE always on. I told him that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If I don't need data, why leave the radio running especially since it's drawing battery power. I started leaving 4G on solely for group text messaging. Otherwise, I really don't need it on unless using navigation or wanting to look something up on the internet.

The M8 does a great job of handling 3G/4G/WiFi if you setup the radios to sleep when the phone isn't being used in my opinion. Otherwise, your battery will be fine throughout the day. We have come a long way since the EVO 4G, EVO 3D, and M7.

I noticed the Sprint App actually mimics what the GSAM battery monitor app will do. They have added so much information to the app it's actually great now. It can run a diagnostic on your phone.

It fixes the LED timeout of 5 minutes to unlimited...or until you manually stop it from flashing by acknowledging the notification.

I leave WiFi on all day because most places I go have Wi-Fi available. Better than toggling it on and off all the time. I always left it turned on when I had my iPhone too.

Not rooted. Updated mine Sunday. No ill effects here. EPS mode is there but don't need it. LED now keeps flashing until dismissed. Today I will try to test bluetooth in car (wifi issue)...

A co-worker updated yesterday and hasn't experienced the Wi-Fi BT issue. Users BT on his car and all day with his Up 24 band while on Wi-Fi in the office. I might do the update today to see for myself.

Got the update yesterday, no issue with bluetooth in the car, worked fine and I connect to two devices in the car. The battery drain maybe a real concern, im already down to 65% by 10am and im usually in the 80% range with my typical routine. I read ATT wasn't pushing the update yet on their M8s because of battery drainage concerns.

Hopefully it straightens out the next few days but we shall see.

Speaking about battery drain, the first day after the update I was at 53% after 9 hours, a big hit from what I usually get. Yesterday it was 69% after 14 hours with basically the same usage pattern so I wait and see on this issue.

Yesterday I ended the day with out 20-30% more than I usually have without EPS on. Today I seem to be back at what I used to get, however, I am noticing that Google Play Services seems to be quite active for some reason.

I unplugged at 6:30 this morning. I've been using Hangouts for SMS, periodically checking social networks and listening to music and some netcasts. Currently at 75%. So about 5 hours with all that and I'm only down 25%. Doesn't seem too bad.

For the record, Blinkfeed seemed to be the main source of drain on the the first day, I opened it twice but nothing major, did the same thing yesterday and all seems back to normal. Maybe it (4.4.3) just needed time to settle, keeping a eye on it.......

I'm not using the BlinkFeed launcher and I think I turned Blinkfeed off. Using Action Launcher if that matter. The OS seems to have some insomnia.

EDIT: Already at 50% when I'm usually still around 60'ish. Hopefully it just needs some more time to settle.
