Currently I have 3 lines. 1 (mine) with unlimited data and 2 with 2GB of data. My monthly bill for 700 minutes + unlimited texting and the data above is $170 per month.

With the new plan I can move to 12 GB of data, unlimited talk and unlimited text for $220 per month.

I have a Droid Maxx and if you didn't know, once on Kit Kat, can't be rooted and FoxFi doesn't work. So, when on unlimited there is no tethering. I only tether when on vacation and travel about 3 weeks per year.

My wife and son (other 2 lines) never cross their 2 GB limit each. They've been close a few times, but have never had overage costs.

I could go with 10 GB for $214 but if I'm going to switch the extra $6 per month for 2 extra GB of data seems to make sense.

    What are your thoughts?

It sucks IMO. At least for me with 2 unlimited phones and one on a 2GB plan. Only way in is to put all three in the pool and pay the same amount for 6GB of shared data. No thanks.

BTW, I moved this to the Verizon forum.

You'd pay $50.-ish more a month for less data so you could tether a bit here and there? I don't see where that is a bargain, but I don't have a need for tethering either so...

Oh, be careful with prices that you are comparing apples to apples. When they quoted me a price, it was before taxes and fees. My $180 current plan is $229 in actual cost after those.;)

I think it is a freaking joke. I can't wait for Tmo to build their service up a little more in my home area because i'm jumping to them quickly when that happens.

Seems like too little too late after Tmo, at&t deals. But offering $10~20 discount to phone line access fee ($40 normally) for edge customer caught my eye. Now the big question is would they continue to offer discounted line access fee even after phone is fully paid on edge program? If not, it stinks and no better than at&t shared plan.

I called VZW last night and spent quite a bit of time with the CSR. We examined all of my options.

If I were to give up my unlimited and we moved to a 10 GB shared data plan my new bill would be $205 per month before taxes and insurances (3 lines at $9).

If I were to give up my unlimited and we moved to a 12 GB shared data plan my new bill would be $215 per month before taxes and insurances.

If I were to keep my unlimited and combine my other two lines on a 6GB plan it would be $240 per month before taxes and insurances.

None of those make any sense to me. Looks like I will keep things as they are and simply ask my son to be more careful with his data.

Expensive! How's AT&T in your area? They have a 10gb plan for $130. 3rd phone would cost more.

You cann't add hotspot to the unlimited? For like $30 a month? Or pro rated per day? I just thought adding hotspot was a feature and not in the main service(shouldn't effect the contact)

Correct, the plan for hotspot on unlimited is 30 dollars per month or prorated by the day. Though I think the OP was referring to avoid having to pay it.

I just thought it would be cheaper to fork over maybe $90 for three months of hotspot (says he only uses it 3 weeks out of the year but I am over estimating.) Rather than pay $50 more per month X 12 = $600. And paying $600 more loses unlimited.

I think the More in this plan means more cost. We had an unusual month due to my son being in the hospital so my wife was texting everyone status updates so I knew she was going to run over and chatted with CS asking if I can buy another block of texts and he said sure and done.
So I get an e-mail from Verizon confirming a change to my account and log in to check and I was now on the More plan.
I was paying $170 per month after taxes for three lines on a shared voice, text pack for each and then two data plans, one unlimited and one 4G.
With the More plan its $40 + $40 + $30 for the three phones line access then $50 for a 2G shared data so $170 before taxes and fees and much less data guaranteeing overages there unless I pay even More for a bigger data package.
