Root [Verizon] NOOB needing help, conflicting information

I have read that the version of Build Number I have can't be rooted, then another post saying it can. All I want to do is increase the volume on my S4 (got it last Friday, on Verizon). The sound quality is decent, but the volume is pathetically low. I saw some mods to fix this but I don't have a clue where to start or perform this mod. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Phone specs as follows:

Model - SCH-I545
Android Ver - 4.2.2
Baseband - I545VRUDMI1
Kernel - 3.4.0-1392595
Build Number - JDQ39.I545VRUDMI1
SELinux Status - Permissive
Secure boot status - Samsung
Hardware Version - I545.06

Any other information please let me know. Any other suggested mods if I can do the above would be apprciated as well.

MI1 can be rooted.

It can be rooted use the de le vega or what ever it is called. I have used this on my phone when I was on 4.2.2
