Hello all, so I TRIED to flash the AOKP B33 rom onto my phone with rom manager, using the instructions provided on the forums here. But now i'm stuck on the booting splash screen (with the unicorn and the "team kang" logo).

Its stuck there and I'm really scared that I just bricked my phone... Please if anyone can help me, I would forever be grateful!

How long have you been stuck at the splash screen? After a clean flash my phone takes a while to boot. I've never timed it, but I feel like one time it took ~5 minutes, though I really have no idea.

If that fails, can you reboot (or battery pull?) and turn the phone on holding the Volume+ button? I think that'll load the bootloader, from which you can jump into recovery. I don't remember if that's the combo, but it's something with the volume keys and power button when the phone is off.

been on the splash screen for over 5 minutes. When i load the bootloader, all it does is show me the start arrow pointing to the power button and says "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!"

can you boot into clockwork recovery?

if you can, wipe data and cache and you will be fine

    bootloops happen.

there are 2 types of flashers here
    those that bootloop
    and those that will bootloop

if you cant boot into clockwork recovery, try booting to bootloader and flash the clockwork recovery back to it. if you cant, you can follow these simple steps to return to stock, and try again:

Please don't be scared. You didn't do anything that you won't be able to get out of. Answer the questions of the folks here and we'll get you going. Really, don't worry. I hate when people worry. It reminds me of when I was a rooting newb. Painful :)

A boot loop is God's way of saying, "Maybe you're moving too fast?", "Did you read the instructions carefully?", "Did you make a backup in recovery first?", "Are you wearing clean underwear?"

Take it all in stride. We've all been there. It's a learning process that will give you tools to handle future issues.

The beauty of the Nexus is that if you can get ANY response from it at all (ie bootloop, not just completely dead) then you haven't bricked it. With something like the Droid X and a locked bootloader, it was much scarier.

I noticed you said you tried to install AOKP through ROM Manager. In the future, my best advice is to always flash from within Clockwork Mod Recovery, never through ROM Manager. I don't know why it makes a difference, but it does. It seems like most of the trouble people have flashing comes from doing it within ROM Manager instead of manually through recovery.

When you boot into the bootloader, and you see the arrow, can you try Volume up or down and see if it changes at all? It should move you through a menu and eventually you'll see the option to boot into recovery.

actually bootlooping, or staying on the Moto M screen, wasnt scary at all... granted some new guys freaked when it happened, but the Droid X is an unbrickable device... RSD Lite, and sbf files ftw

Practically speaking, you're probably right...I never bricked mine...but I knew less then, and had heard an awful lot about locked bootloaders, so I held my breath a lot when flashing things. :)

Still glad to be on the Nexus train now, with so many more options.

When you downloaded AOKP, you should have also downloaded the latest gapps from the same place. When you go into ClockworkMod Recovery, after wiping, etc, then you want to install first the AOKP file, then the gapps file, then reboot. That should sort it all out.

Where can I find these gapps file? I don't see it on the download page? thanks for your help.

Update: sorry I found them... wow what a stressful night Thanks so much for your help.
