[Verizon] Reboot loop after flashing 4.4.2

My (Verizon) Galaxy Nexus has been running slowly for ages, so I finally decided to flash to the new 4.4.2 from RootzWiki ([ROM][AOSP](12/11/13) Shiny ROM: OTA-Like, Stock Android [4.4.2] [KOT49H] - [VZW] Galaxy Nexus Development - RootzWiki).

Anyway, it worked and it loads to the main screen... only to say "unfortunately, process .com.android.phone has stopped working" and immediately reboot. And repeat ad infinitum. When I try to go into bootloader mode, I can't get into recovery mode because it gets stuck on the "START" saying "Downloading do not turn off" half the time, and the few times I've made it to the recovery screen it shows the android with the red exclamation point.

I don't know what to do from here. I've tried flashing to stock but it can't get into Fastboot mode from WugFresh's tool kit. HELP! Thanks!

You need to make sure to root the device properly and update your custom recovery to the latest version otherwise you won't be able to install the firmware update.

Have you tried factory resetting the device too?
