I have a Galaxy S5. I purchased it at Best Buy, but it has Verizon service (I'm not sure whether place or purchase matters.) It has a SIM card, and when I exchanged the card with an AT&T phone's card, my phone worked just fine.

My question: does this mean my phone will work in the UK if I buy a SIM card there, or is the CDMA technology still a problem?

By the way, the Verizon website says the company can do something to my phone so that I can use it in the UK, but the charge is $10 per day.

If it is a Verizon branded SM-G900V, you may be able to receive 2&3g with most UK carriers but not 4g LTE.

I appreciate the attempts, but that website doesn't answer the question, as it doesn't have UK phone carriers in the list.

I put in UK, all carriers and got a list. This is just the first few. Four pages with over 30 listings.

The principle carriers in the UK are O2, Vodafone, EE, and 3, all the others like Tesco, Lebara or Giffgaff are MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) using the main carriers' networks. The UK does have a lot of MVNO. 3 doesn't operate a 2G GSM network, that's why they're called 3.
