I was reading through VZWsupport's twitter and noticed someone didn't receive 2.2 for their Motorola Droid. VZWsupport told them:

"@JoeGoe If you didnt recieve the update since its not being rolled out you will have to take to a store and a tech will have to pust it."

I was thinking, for us impatient people, if we really requested and were nice to a tech at a store, maybe they could push the update for our Dinc. It may not work, they may just give the store the ability once the OTA is over.

    What do you think?

I called a store yesterday and asked if I could go into a store and have 2.2 put on my phone. They said "no"

This may be a Motorola thing. When I called tech support a week ago, the tech support person mistakenly thought Incredible update was starting and checked with HTC to see if they could push it to me. HTC couldn't (of course the update hadnt started) but I wonder if I made that call now if they could.

This JoeGoe guy over at XDA I jsut responded to him about this, he said that if you are on the old 2.1 , 1.22.605.0 instead of 1.22.605.2 that you would need to go to the store and I don't think he is right, I just think that it is because of the new updates being rolled out. I think he got confused.

I know they did this for the Droid when the Droid had its first update but I think it depends on if you have a cool Tech

  6. Can anyone confirm this?

My 2 cents...I could see this being true only after the 2 week push period. If a phone somehow was skipped by the system, then the push could be done manually. But once again I would think this could only be done once the official pushing period was over.

It appears to be a no, at least for now. I was just at Verizon getting the Speck case for my DINC. I was joking with the rep stating I would probably be the last person to get it and he stated that it should take 1-2 weeks for all DINC owners to get their push. He mentioned that they were waiting for the flash file, so that may mean that eventually it can be force pushed?

I know in my office there are three DINC owners, and none of us got it yet. One has the Droid and he got it on day 4 of their OTA push.

I also agree completely. They don't want users crashing the system forcing the update way earlier than it's planned.

having worked at a corporate location they can do flash updates bt only for phones other than android, they can even do blackberry even tho they dont like to incase it wipes the phone. bt as far as android at this time they do not have the option to flash the updates. they are done ota at this point.

No, he didn't. But thanks for playing...

He said they can't flash the update (ie they plug the phone into a computer a rewrite the phone to provide the update). They should be able to, eventually, tell the network to push out the update to your phone. It will be the same way everyone else gets it, its just instated initiated manually.

Please reread his post..."they are done ota at this time." And he said "flash" about a dozen times (and flashing refers to a complete diferent method from forcing the ota). What I'm talking about is somebody at verizon instructing the system to initiate the update. And again, I know other carriers are able to do it for other android phones.

Yea, but not until the updates are done OTA.

  19. By confirmation, I meant an overwhelming response towards one side. Not one person saying no. But it seems like no one has had any luck with this.

the only reason the Moto update was sent to stores was because there was a known issue with SOME people ending up with $600 bricks. after the update, the phone would reboot... but not completely load.

Unless something similar happens with the DInc, I wouldn't expect the same treatment.

I filtered through this thread, didnt read every post but ill tell you, i work for verizon(as i say time and time again) and we cannot push software updates. Nor can we hook your phone to our computer and load it, because for pda's we arent aloud to do it because of security reasons(as least in my region(New york metro, nj, pa,NY))

1-2 weeks on the push sounds right to get about eveyrone. There was nothing sent out on my end about a delay in the push. I wish I could get the figures, but im gonna guess over 300k of these were sold since launch.

I think I could post this until im going blue in the face, and not get anywhere. There will be at least 5 new threads today about when they are getting the update pushed

I should start a thread and get it stickied and call it:

The official UNOFFICIAL push date for your DInc!

Then in the thread put, WHEN YOU SEE IT POP UP ON YOUR SCREEEN!!!!!

I went to my Verizon store in NY and paid this guy Bruce $100 to push Froyo to my Incredible. He said I would have it by the time I got home. Well, I went home and waited like 3 hours and never got it. When I went back to the store, they said "Bruce who?". Now what do I do?

I seriously hope you didn't bribe someone who imposed as an tech for Verizon to put the update on your phone. If that's true you deserve it for being so impatient. Ahhh...new yorkers....gotta luv em. Telling the impatient ones on here to either wait or root their phone is like talking to a piece of paper, empty bottle, dirt, a fan. Basically what I am saying is that it's pointless talking to them. I didn't include animals to talk to because that would be a disrespect to them. At least they have an excuse for not understanding.
